Team Information

The Country Club Swim and Dive league began in the mid 1950’s. In 1956 the board of The Salt Lake Country club unanimously approved the construction of a pool. After the pool was constructed a swim team was formed. In 1960 the Country Club Swim and Dive league added a Conference Championship meet to the season that previously only included dual meets. At this time the league consisted of 140 kids on four teams: The Salt Lake Country Club, the Cottonwood Club, Willow Creek, and the Salt Lake Tennis club.  The Salt Lake Country Club Swim and Dive Team won the first ever Conference Championship meet under coach Tom Thorum Sr. Since then, The Salt Lake Country Club has been victorious at the Conference meet three additional times: Twice under coaches Cal Caplan and George Rich in 1962 and 1964 and then again in 2010 under coach Bergen Beck. Since 1960, the league has grown and currently consists of six teams with over 400 kids on their rosters.

The Salt Lake Country Club Swimming and Diving Team is designed to provide a supportive environment and a true team experience for all those involved. The goals of the team are not only to teach the fundamentals and foster an interest in the sports of swimming and diving, but also to teach self-discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal commitment.
